A Wolof guide to support women entrepreneurs in Senegal
The Guide for Senegalese Women Entrepreneurs was launched on 1 September 2026. Available as a PDF and in Wolof audio, it offers a practical roadmap from defining a project to growing a business.
A Guide for Senegalese Women Entrepreneurs was launched on 1 September 2026 to make it easier for women to access practical information on starting and developing an economic activity. The tool is aimed at women entrepreneurs in all regions of the country, regardless of their literacy level or field of activity.
The document is the result of a partnership between the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, the Directorate of Vocational Guidance (DOP), and members of the Project to Support the Economic and Social Empowerment of Women and Youth in Senegal (PAFEJ).
Six steps to structure a business
The guide is organised around six stages, from identifying the entrepreneur’s profile and defining her project to developing the business. It covers building an offer, organising the activity, communication and business development.
Financial management, seeking funding, business diagnosis and innovation are also among the topics covered. The content includes practical tools, points requiring attention, and advice on sustainable development and the circular economy. Testimonies from Senegalese women entrepreneurs are also included.
A format designed for accessibility
The guide is available in PDF format and as an audio version in Wolof. This dual format is intended to make it more accessible to the women concerned, beyond written materials alone.
The publication is a deliverable of the partnership rolled out in 14 technical institutions and among civil society organisations. The initiative is part of the project “Mille femmes : je suis femme, j’existe, je participe (FEP)”, funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Colleges and Institutes Canada.
